If I got into an accident while driving with a suspended license, do I need a lawyer?

I received a compliant/arrest affidavit and was told court would be set. A court date has been set. At time, the police officer said all I have to do is show proof of insurance, registration and license all current at court and pay a fine.

I would never trust what the arresting officer told you. If you had cured all of the reasons for which your license was suspended PRIOR to you arrest, you could provide proof to the prosecutor and hope for a dismissal.  If you cured after the arrest, I would advise you to have an attorney
