If Igot a ticket for providing alcohol to a person under 21, what can happen to me?
The citation on the ticket is C.R.S. 12-47-901 (1)(a.5)(I). I have court. I have a clean recordand this a first time offense. My friend just took a tiny sip. I didn’t get arrested, and I was able to drive my friend home, but I did get a ticket and a court date. Should I speak with a DUI attorney? In Colorado Springs, CO.

You did not drive under the influence or drive while intoxicated. You provided alcohol to a minor. Every state is different on what providing alcohol to a minor means in terms of punishment. You can pay a simple fine (usually a low misdemeanor) but other states may also require you to give up your driver's license or have it suspended. Contact local counsel to see if you can plea out and have this go away without having it on your record. You might be able to get an alternative conviction wherein you pay a fine, do some sort of community service and stay out of trouble for a certain amount of time. If you comply with all conditions, typically the conviction will be "erased".
