How do I get an open judgment off of my credit report after filing for bankruptcy?
I filed for bankruptcy 7 years ago and had a charge for LACU of $5000 included in the bankruptcy. My credit report states this bill as “Civil Judgment in Bankruptcy” and falls off my credit report next month. However, when doing a court search when trying to rent, I discovered this judgment is still open. How do I get this closed or dismissed through the Iowa court systems so that it does not reflect negatively on me when landlords do a background check?

The only way you can get the "open judgment" reference off of your credit report after you have received your bankruptcy discharge is to write each credit reporting company with a copy of your discharge and ask that your credit report be updated.
