It had a bunch of sharp rocks in it; I didn’t see it since it wasn’t blocked off.

What were you doing on the old loading dock? If that was not public space (e.g. the public entrance to a store), you were tresspassing and could face criminal charges. And if there was nothing "hidden" about the edge of the dock or the drop, then it was *your* negligence (carelessness) in fallling off an obvious drop, not the owner's negligence or carelessness, and the owner would not be liable. From what you write, it is likely you do not have a case.
