Well, it sounds a little like you could be charged with a form of "theft" against your company. It does not sound like it could be classified as "embezzlement." Embezzlement occurs when someone who was entrusted to manage or monitor someone else’s money or property steals all or part of that money or property for the taker's personal gain. But why did you do it? To advance in your career? I could see that then as a shot. I think that you have to wait to see under what provision of the law you are going to be charged in order to evaluate the matter more fully. Get a lawyer. Now.
