If I am being sued for a unsecured loan but can pay in full next month, how do I respond to the summons?

You have several options regarding how to resolve the lawsuit against you for the unsecured loan that you can shortly pay in full this month as follows:

1. call the attorney or party who filed the lawsuit and ask for a written extension to answer the complaint for 30 days or so stating that you intend to pay the amount soon;

2. if the request is not accepted, answer the summons and complaint timely so you do not get defaulted;

3. do not answer the complaint but enter into a written settlement agreement with the party suing you where you pay the amount owed by a certain date.
