What to do if I’m being charged with forgey using someone’s credit card?

My friend gave it to me to purchase merchindise with I did not know at the time it was stolen. He is also in jail but told them I had no clue I thought it was his because trusting him I did not look at the name on the card. What are my chances of winning the case?

It depends on how believable your testimony is; on what your friend also testifies; and on whether it is generally plausible that you reasonably did not know or have reason to know that the card was stolen. However, from what you write, your odds are not good: it would generally not be considered reasonable that you did not look at the name on the card--especially if you bought online, where you *must* enter the cardholder's name. Even shopping in person, a judge or jury might consider it not reasonable that you would not even glance at the card as it's being handed to you.
