An employer is legally required to pay a terminated employee for all earned work time. This is true even if the employer has a claim against the employee. For example, the employee took money from the cashregister. The fact is that in such a situation, the employer must file a lawsuit to be reimburesed; it cannot just make a deduction from the employee's paycheck (that is unless the employee agreed to the deduction). As for whether or not a bous shouls be paid under the circumstances, that depends. What was the agreement surrounding the payout of the bonus? Was it in writing, etc.
