A DUI stays on a driving record indefinitely. However, after a period of time passes, a prior DUI is no longer considered for sentencing purposes. By virtue of something known as the "look-back period" a prior offense is not considered when a sentence is imposed. For example, OH has a 10 year look-back period, so if you were to have another DUI in year 11 the punishment for the second DUI would be the same as if it were your first.
