How long you have to be married in order to get alimony varies from state-to-state. Some states set a minimum of at least 10 years; other states limit the amount of alimony you can receive rather than saying how long you have to have been married in order to be eligible to receive it. My research suggests that NC is in the latter category (i.e. there is no set amount of years).
