How does one establish a conservatorship for benefits to be received on life insurance on a childs behalf.
Uncle leaves life insuranec to nephew 4yr,with only weeks to live, I just found out that I should establish a conservatorship to receive the benefits on my childs behalf. How do I do that! Can I do it on my own? Need anwer soon don’t have much time to act and want to have this all done before he passes away.

Hi there. I gave you the information on the conservatorship issue. I am not admitted in Kansas but have looked up where one would go for establishing conservatorship. Apparently, Kansas does not have a separate type of court for conservatorships. It is done in the District Court, which is determined by the county in which you live. I do not knowhow easy or difficult it is to establish a conservatorship in Kansas. You may want to seek legal advice from an attorney in this field in your area. You can, though, start by going down to your district court and speaking with the Court clerks who deal with conservatorship to give you a general idea on what is entailed. The Insurance company will hold the death benefit until all the proper paperwork is done and it should gain interest until it is paid out. Good luck.
