How can my foreign spouse come to the United States?

I am a US citizen, and we have a child together, which is also a US citizen. I already know about the IR-1/CR-1 visas and would like to know what other options are available.

Come here as if to live, you would need to file for a green card application. An immigrant visa only gets you so far. Depending on the country from which your spouse is from, you need to figure out what would take so long.  Did you marry in the U.S.? If so, why haven't you been able to have your spouse automatically be eligible to live here? Not sure of all of the issues in your particular situation but you may wish to enlist the help of an immigration attorney.  Try your local groups who help your spouse's culture or country, even check in with your local politicians, state and federal and see if they can flex their political muscle to help you.  There is also a separate route of work visas, but again not sure of what exactly you need.
