How am I guilty of forgery and identity theft?
An old friend of mine which is no longer my friend back in April altered the amounts on couple checks and change the name to my name and I went and cashed it how am I guilty of identity theft when it was my name it was changed to and I’m the one that cashed it and also how am I guilty of forgery when he is one that altered everything?

You could be guilty as an accomplice (sometimes called accessory), which generally carries the same guilt (& same punishment) as being the primary or main criminal. You apparently cashed checks which you know someoen else had altered; that makes you as guilty of the forgery, etc. as the person who did it.
