Would I be able to take a management company to court for collecting rent if my premises is not legally eligible for renting?
Hi I am renting a home through a mangaement company and have been paying rent for the last 7 months I just found out the company does not have a rent certificate to rent the home out and the city say no one should be staying in the home.

Under the laws of all states in this country, if you were paying rent for a unit that does not have a rent certificate issued with respect to it, then the owner and landlord as well as the property management company should not have rented it to you and collected rent.
From what you have written, you would have a claim in small claim court against the landlord and his/her agent for all rent that you paid to date plus accrued interest. I suggest that if you need more assistance on your matter that you contact your local legal aid clinic in your community.
