If you have little or no income, you are entitled to the services of a public defender.  When you go to court, do not enter a plea.  Ask the judge for a public defender who will represent you for free.  The public defender will discuss the case with you and with the district attorney's office and together you and your attorney will determine how you should plead in this particular case.
