Forced vacation usage

My employer will be closing our business down temporarily while they make repairs
to the building. Are they required to pay employees for the time the business is
closed, or is it ok for them to force employees to use their vacation time? We
do not have another location to work from and we also do not have the option of
working from home.

First of an employer is not legally required to provide vaction time (unless it is mandated under the terms of a union agreement or employment contract). Therefore, to the extent that is does provide it, then it has a great deal of discretion over when and how it is used. Accordingly, your employer can force you to use your vacation time while it is temorrily closed for repairs.
