Yes, the original agreement stays in effect: it is a legally binding contract. There is no right to have an addendum or revision, etc. to a contract: the other side has to consent to it. If you entered into an agreement, then it is voluntary to amend it, and the other side may freely choose to not do so, leaving the original agreement in place as is.
