Does it violate privacy law to disclose the results of a rental application to a current resident who is trying to sublease her apartment?

I assume you mean can you disclose whether a potential tenant who wants to sublease has passed the rental application background check (i.e. credit history, rental history, etc.).
Don't go into details. Just inform the current resident whether or not a potential tenant qualifies to rent the unit. Don't be specific, for example, revealing the entire credit history of the potential tenant. Just say "yes, he/she qualifies" OR "no, he/she does not qualify."
