Does an employer have the right to intimidate you and make suggest remarks to a fellow co-worker about you?

I was told by yesterday by fellow co-worker that associate with, that she was speaking with supervisor about a general question, and my supervisor told her me and another female co-worker who are on the same work team are under upper managements radar, not for our work performance, but because we associate and talk with each other. We have been under their radar for a while, and and they want us to stop being friends or other action ours will take place.I have worked customer service for 11 years. I understand office gossip and to ignore it. I have never been apart of any, and I have never been under any managements radar because who i befriend. I have been at this job for 3 years, and I have been told by many people that I’m too friendly but because I don’t go out to drink with upper management on Fridays. I will never be looked at for any type of promotion. I’ve seen how this job treats and talk to their employees have when they simple just want that person to quit. I’ve been having anxiety with this job because recently this year everything I do or work, they always send me an email asking to go deeper into my work, and my quality of work has never been an issue and now things are starting to adding up to me. In May this year, my supervisor was told she had to write me up because I didn’t meet a recent quantity goal of 4.0 events an hour but instead I was at 3.8 or 3.9. When I asked her for the weeks or days. She showed me 4 dates. The dates were for 11 random non consecutive weeks that were not in a quarter that everything is based on. She said that I had to sign it so management knew she gave it to me. Never being writen up before, I signed it and asked her when the expiration of the write-up was. She informed me that it was ongoing and couldn’t give me expiration time yet but check back in the future. I have been meeting quantity goal and above. My work review is 100%. I don’t understand why who I associate with personally would effect my job position. I feel scared, intimidated and constantly harrased for nothing. I’m at lost as to what can be done.

Unless your treatment violates the terms of an employment contract or union agreement, or in some way constitutes harassment due to some form of legally actionable discrimination (e.g. based on race, relgion, disability, age, gender, etc.), you have no claim. The fact is that most work is "at will". This means that a company can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit. Therefore, your only options here are to continue to submit to this unrofessional behavior, complain but risk termintion, or quit .
