DoI have to evict a person who came to visit for a few weeks and now refuses to leave or canI just call the police to escort her out?

My friend came to visit for a couple weeks and didn’t inform me that she was not willing to leave. Now she says I can’t make her leave even though her name isn’t on the lease. She does not contribute to the house at all.

I would first call the police and try to have the police escort her from the premises as a trespasser. In the interim I would contact your landlord about the situation you are in and try to get him or her to assist you in getting the unwelcome guest off the premises.

If the police will not escort her from the premises, you and the landlord will need to serve her with an eviction notice (30 days). If she refuses to vacate after 30 days, then you will have to serve her with an unlawful detainer action and go through the legal process to get a court order of eviction.
