Do I have a case?
I was jumped while at work by people I
don’t know. The on sight security did
nothing to stop the attack and did not
call the police to report the attack.
After returning to work after two
scheduled days off, I was suspended from
work pending an investigation. I don’t
feel that this was an appropriate way of
handling things by employer and the
security guard posted at my job.

Without knowing the details of your situation, all that I can tell you is that unless your suspension violates the terms of a union agreement or employment contract, it is legal. Basically, most employment is "at will". This means that a company can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination). This includes who to suspend and why. In fact, an employer can discipline or even terminate a worker for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice.
