Distributor getting you fired

I am currently work for a heating and air company and am on a leave of of absence due to an injury. I recently asked a distributor about equipment pricing and being a vender should I choose to go out on my own. The sales rep for the vender let my employers know, so now I have no job. I was merely getting a back up plan in place due to this injury but had not planned on leaving the company no time soon. I made right at 6 figures and think this is BS.

Unless you had protection under the terms of an employment contraxr or union agreement, you were an "at will" worker. Tis means that you could have been terminated for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice. The fact is that a company can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination).
