Can I start a business as an LLC or INC, as a L2 visa holder?
I am a spouse of a L1 visa holder and possess an official work permit. I am allowed to work but it is unclear if that means starting my own business as well. On internet I read opposite answers. Some say you can open your own business and work in it, others say you are allowed to open a business but not work in it yourself.

You ARE allowed to open an LLC or an INC, won it AND woek in it as you do have a valid EAD document. Unfortunately the info on the net is most of the time wrong - the answers you saw referred to someone on L1 or H1 visa (you are in fact here on L4 as a spouse of L1). L1 and H1 visa holders may OWN shares of companies but may NOT be employed elsewhere other than their primary Petitioner. Hope it helps. I would be glad to assist you further - feel free to email me directly at [email protected]
