Is a person subject to a criminal subpoena from another state?
My spouse and I live in CA and have each received via US Postal Registered Mail a criminal subpoena to LA. Do we have to go? It would be really difficult to manage this monetarily.

When you say that you have received a criminal subpoena, are you referring to a warrant for your arrest, or a subpoena to testify as a witness in a criminal case? The general rule is that it is possible for you to be extradited from one state to another pursuant to a warrant; however, it is often impossible to force someone to testify out of state as a witness. Nevertheless, I suggest that you bring this paperwork to a local attorney so that he can evaluate it and discuss it with you in more detail. Once in possession of the actual subpoena, a local attorney will be able to advise you with respect to your options and obligations that arise out of the subpoena.
