The amount of child support is based on income.  States usually have a minimum established level of child support.  Some states use a mathematical formula to determine child support.  Some states may allow an agreement between the spouses for a lesser amount of child support.  The rules for determining the amount of child support vary from state to state.  You could obtain information on child support from your court clerk or from the appropriate county department.
