Can rental agencies contact another rental agency directly? how intensively can they inquire?
i’m wondering in minnesota usa-i recently had my rental application denied by a rental company. they say it’s because i owe money on a former residence, and that if i can provide proof of intent to repay they’ll allow me to live there. i’m wondering why, in the first place, they don’t just contact this other rental agency to inquire, and if i provide this proof if they’ll contact them then.is this a matter of not legally being able to contact the company directly? must they base decisions off of credit history alone?

This is completely legal and rental agencies often use this research to ensure the best possible tenant.
Credit history doesn't provide your rental history. And no, they don't have to base decisions solely off of your credit report.
