Can my massage therapy client sue me for “causing severe muscle spasms”?
I am a massage therapist with a client threatening to sue me for causing “severe muscle spasms”. I did not do anything out of my scope of practice and have never heard of massage causing muscle spasms, in fact it is usually prescribed for them… Do you think he has a case? My client does have scoliosis but again this is an indicated condition and generally improved with massage.

It is only a threatening. No suit has been filed so relax. Hopefully after a passage of time your client will cool down and come to senses. If the client wants to sue you he or she must prove the causation that spasms were caused by the therapy, not by some pre-existing conditions.
