can my landlord sell my house
i live in tn and just signed a lease for a year for the house i am living in. my landlord wants to put a lockbox on my house so that the realtor can come and go. i have two dogs and a 13 year old son home alone during the work week. my lease says he can come in to make repairs but thats about it. what do i do? legal aid gave me a pamplet that stated i have the right to have peace and enjoy my home without the landlord bothering me.

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law. Legal aid is correct, however, most states have statute (which i am sure includes your state) that says that tenants may not unreasonably withhold access by their landlord from trying to sell or re-let the property while you are there. I suggest permitting the landlord to come in. I also suggest that you make an agreement with the landlord to give you the courtesy of givng you 24 hours notice before showing the property so you can be home.
