I am assuming that you are focusing on HIPAA issues. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Civil Rights, as long as you do not object, your health care provider is allowed to discuss your health information with your family and friends or others involved in your care or payment for your care. Now, that sounds like carte blanche to talk about things doesn't it? Well it is not. Doctors are bound by privilege and that could extend to staff depending on the situation and your state laws. It also limits the information needed to that required for your care. That qualifies the information. If you are worried about the matter make it very clear that your medical condition is not to be discussed - make them write it in your chart. Good luck.
