Can my brother gain conservatorship over my mother if he does not pay taxes?

My brother is trying to gain conservatorship over my mother. However he does not pay taxes at all, so I feel that he is not capable of taking care of her financial affairs when he does not take care of his own. What can I do to stop this?

You can object to his being appointed an ask that you be appointed instead.  I would speak with an attorney in your area on the matter about the criteria the courts use to determine who will make a good conservator.  You make a valid point it just needs to be translated in to word the court will recognize.  Good luck.
