Can long term teaching substitutes collect unemployment?

I am starting a new job next week. It’s a long term substitute position. However that is only for another 4 months. After the school year ends, will I be able to collect unemployment? I have previous work history. I was a teacher for 5 1/2 years until I quit to move to out-of-state.

You would in your state have to meet certain monetary minimim eligibility requirements to be eligible for unemployment in your state. You need to check your expected salary against that minimum to determine if you will become eligible. Generally speaking, even long term assignments may not qualify but the state in which you reside and work seems to go with more income minimums rather than simply employment terms.
