Can i sue a former employer for not doing anything to another employee who was constantly harrassing and defaming me while knowing about it?

Ray hurd (asst.meat manager) and sherry skinner were defaming and harassing me. Everytime it was reported to my manager (Joe Garza) i was told to mind my own business and eventually told that complaining is going to hurt me more. It got so bad that i eventually left. All this was happening while i was trying to deal with my house burning completely, my son having nightmares every single night about being on fire and little sleep. It was breaking me down. After reporting this several times and nothing being done about it, I eventually left. Ray and sherry were also living together.

There has to be a lot more to this story, and the details might matter.  The problem is, that it isn't clear that what the other two employees were doing was illegal.  Nasty, perhaps, but there's not much law saying you have to be nice.
