IF the defective feeding tube caused some injury, then if you could show that the tube was in fact manufactured or designed improperly/defectively, you could sue for the additional medical costs caused by the defect, for "pain and suffering" if it caused long lasting severe impairment or disability, etc. But you can only sue for actual costs or injuries, so if the defective tube didn't cause any real harm, there's no point in suing--you'd spend more on the lawsuit then you'd get. And you do have to prove, not just assume or allege, the defect, which will require expert testimony which can be expensive.
