Generally speaking, CD's are not protected under the federal bankruptcy laws unless the CD is in someway connected to a pension or IRA.  CD's are not considered retirement accounts which are the accounts protected.  Now, that being said, you should also check your state bankruptcy laws which for your state.  Many times state laws offer much more protection than the federal laws on these matters.  You can choose to file with federal or state exemptions in most states.  You must choose one or the other.  Seek help from someone in your area that can help you decide what to do here and see what options you have.  Good luck to you.
