Can I get embezzlement charges?

I was fired for using company rebate cards and coupons. The majority of the office staff was doing this but there was only proof of me doing so. They said they were going to charge me with embezzlement can they do this?

It is possible that you could be charged with embezzlement.  Embezzlement is the fraudulent appropriation of money or property to which you had been entrusted.  Embezzlement is the fraudulent appropriation of property which you rightfully had in your possession.  Embezzlement is the fraudulent appropriation of property which was in your possession due to your employment.

As an employee, you were rightfully in possession of the coupons and rebate cards, but when you appropriated those items for your own use, that constituted embezzlement.
