Can I file my own property deed with the county?

I own two parcels of forested land under two Tax IDs, I would like to combine the
parcels under one tax ID but I was told by the county clerk that new deed must be
filed. Can I prepare my own deed and submit or do I need an attorney to complete?

Thank you,
Ana

You are allowed to prepare and file your own deeds; there is no legal requirement to have an attorney do this. That said, an error in the deed or in how it is filed could invalidate the new deed; you are strongly advised to retain a lawyer to help you, since if this is worth doing, it is worth doing right.
