Can a company take back relocation assistance?
I started with a new company and they had in their offer letter, a $2,700 relocation assistance in exchange for an 18 month commitment. They gave me the money. I never signed any sort of
commitment to them. And now 8 months later, I’ve left the company and they’ve taken $1500 out of my last paycheck as reimbursement. Can they do that? Since I didn’t commit?

If you accepted the money *after* receiving the offer letter which stated that you would get $2,700 relocation assistance in exchange for an 18-month committment, then in taking the money after that, you *did* agree or commit: taking the money with awareness of the conditions under which it was offered constitutes acceptance of those terms. So they would be entitled to recover the pro rata share (based on how many of those 18 months you did stay) of the relocation assistance from you.
