Can a club soccer team restrict my son from playing if we stopped payment on a check to them because they have not delivered uniforms?

My son plays on a club soccer team that cost $950 a season. We made our first payment of $345, with an additional payment of $185 for the uniform package on 4 months ago. We still have not received a single 1 of 8 items from the uniform package and with no explanation, apologies or expected due date from the club. My son has to borrow jerseys and tape numbers on just to be able to play. I sent several e-mails to the club that were never answered so we put a stop payment on our last payment of $195. Now they are forbidding my son from participating. What are our rights?

From what you have written, you have an internal issue with the team organization as opposed to the coaching staff for the club soccer team. As such, you need to carefully read all documentation that you have signed regarding the club soccer team and all materials provided you in that such documentation will control the obligations owed to you by the team organization and vice versa in the absence of conflicting state law.

I suggest that the best way to resolve the situation is to have a face to face meeting with the team's organizational unit as well as the coaching staff regarding the the uniform package concerns as well as your child's playing time and hope that the dispute gets resolved to your satisfaction before the next match.
