Are insurance companys required to provide suffient documentation to justify all amounts they are seeknig from you.

An insurance companyies collection agency refuses to provide documention to show line item detail behind the mounts being sought, or explain how what an item listed as Hupy Abraham (they are a local attorney) is for, they are classifying it as medical.

You are absolutely entitled to well-documented information regarding the amounts they are asking you to pay.  Tell them you will not pay anything until and unless they provide you with specifics on all of the charges, including the attorney's fees.  They are trying to take advantage of you, which many of these collection agencies try to get away with.  Don't let them!  You can write them a letter requesting all the information you need for each charge.

Without having all the facts it is hard to answer but my gut reaction is that you contact a local attorney who specializes in this area of law. If the insurance company or their collector is acting in a manner that is unprofessional or in violation of certain regulations the attorney will be able to put an end to it and possibly settle or have your case dismissed.

From the sounds of it they are not acting in a professional manner. you are entitled to documentation on the debt and without it is often very hard to proceed. You need to ensure they know you will not sit back and allow them to bully you into paying a debt unless they can substantiate the debt with documentation. Although line item isn't always possible they need to be able to explain certain charges such as the hupy abraham charge
