Am I responsible for my wife’s final hospital visit?

My wife died recently. Today I received a bill from the hospital for the ER room. Her insurance paid most of it but there is a $50 co-pay. My wife might have been deceased upon arrival at the hospital. My wife had no estate.

Pursuant to the doctrine of necessaries, a spouse id liable for some of the medical bills of the spouse.  However, if you are only potentially liable for $50.00, you would pay an attorney more than that to fight it.  Sorry for the loss.
