How much notice must a tenant be giventhat they are being evicted?

I am being evicted and received a notice this morning (8 am) from the Marshal that I need to vacate the premise by 12/20. Is this legal?

It sounds like you may have missed a few steps here in this matter.  If the Marshall is involved then there is most likely an order of eviction already in place.  You need to go down to the court to request a "stay of eviction" meaning that you are requesting that the court stop the matter for now.  If you were not properly served with the required notices in an eviction proceeding  - 30 day notice or 3 day notice and then papers for a summary proceeding - you will need to bring an "order to show Cause" which is an expedited motion requesting the court to help.  You should do the as soon as possible - like today.  Good luck to you.
