What is my liability if almost 3 years ago my dog bit our neighbor?

The property it happened on can be disputed as it was on the property line. Over 2 years ago she had surgery for which she claims is due to the bite. She has now contacted me stating the surgery center is asking for $1000 the insurance company wouldn’t pay because someone else was “responsible”. She is asking for my homeowners insurance information and feels she should not have to pay out of pocket for this or “any future surgeries” she might need. Can you please tell me what my responsibility is for such a situation?

Colorado, like Arizona, is a statutory strict liability state when it comes to dog bites.  However, also like Arizona, Colorado has a two-year statute of limitations on bringing claims for dog bite injuries.  Therefore, your neighbor has waited too long to bring her claim, and your homeowners' insurance likely will be unwilling to pay her for that reason.
