Must I pay for a new dental crown that was never put on?
A new dentist told me my wisdom tooth (lower right quadrant) needed a crown, so a temporary crown was put on. However, it became excruciatingly painful. I was advised by other dentists not to go through with the procedure and to have the tooth extracted instead. Do I have to pay for the cost of the new crown even if it was not put on? I had to have the extraction procedure instead, albeit with another dentist.

If the actual permanent crown was not put on your tooth for the reasons you have stated in your question then you should not have to pay for the procedure to do so for the simple fact that the tooth that was to receive it is no longer there.
However, you would be obligated to pay for all costs incurred to date for the manufacturing of the permanent crown if you requested your dentist to place one in your mouth and agreed to it.
