Flight insurance is accidental death and dismemberment insurance for injuries resulting from an accident or crash of your airplane on a scheduled airplane flight, or transportation provided by the airline to, or from the airplane, or as a substitute for the airplane.

Typically, the full face amount of the policy would be payable in the event of loss of life, or loss of two limbs, or of both eyes, with other payments for other contingencies. The full table of benefit payments should be shown in the policy.

Statistically, commercial air travel is quite safe so the payment for flight insurance is relatively inexpensive (often about $25 for $250,000 or $500,000 of insurance).
