We had severe winter storms and my adjuster said the problem was legit for claim, but that adjuster was wrong on the actual cause. We had ice and snow damage to roof and shingles, but the adjuster made a bad diagnosis of the cause and paid for repairs that did not actually stop the leakage. The repairs were made about a year ago and now the exact same area is leaking. Can I go back and reopen claim?

If you had storm damage to your home that was paid by the insurance company, but the repairs did not actually fix the problem, you can ask them to go back and re-open the claim. It seems that the repair person should have been able to determine if the repairs were what was needed, but perhaps it was an error by both of them.The adjuster could refuse to re-open the claim or may say it is a new claim and your deductible will apply again for the new repairs. Sometimes it may seem the same area is the cause, but it may not be. Water damage claims to the roof are often hard to resolve if the exact location of the damage is not properly determined. Explain to the adjuster that it appears it is the same location and cause, to try to encourage him to re-open the claim rather than starting another, sincew it would look better to have only 1 claim, rather than two on your policy.
