Insurance Question from Lehigh, FL

Asked on 11/01/2010

unknown insurance company I got a very good auto quote from Safeguard Casualty, but have never heard of them. I'm unable to find any reviews or ratings about them. Can anyone help me find reviews/ratings concerning them? Currently with Allstate, but they doubled my premiums this year although I'm accident free.

Answer given on November 05, 2010

I have not heard of Safeguard either, but it appears they are not the insurance company but an agent or broker who represents several insurance companies.  I would suggest that you call them and determine the actual insurance company their quote is from so you can make an informed decision.  It appears they represent many well known insurance companies, and some not so well known.  However, Florida has many companies that specialize in insurance in that state, so not being well known does not mean the company is not good.

Allstate Insurance is offered through a “captive” agent, meaning they only sell Allstate insurance.  Safeguard appears to be an independent agent, who is able to offer many different companies.
