If you were involved in an accident that was not your fault, the insurance for the other party should contact you and settle for the damages to your car. If you were injured, you are entitled to reimbursement for your costs for the injuries, and possibly an additional sum. You do not need an attorney to settle with the insurance company. Many feel they will get more if there is an attorney, but often times the increased payment goes to the attorney. Try to work with the insurance company to see if you can get the damages and injuries settled. In addition, the other insurance company will pay for a rental car if needed while the car is being fixed. If you don’t have an estimate for the damages to your car, get one or two from a repair facility you trust. Then talk to the adjuster about the damages and see if they will accept the estimate you provide. If so, then you can get the car fixed. I fyou were injured, the insurance company will wait til all bills are submitted before they will settle the injury portion of the claim.
