Driving record is another factor that will affect what you pay for full or minimum coverage at Mercury Insurance.

Like other companies, Mercury Insurance views drivers who drive under the influence as the riskiest drivers to insure, so a DUI offense is the costliest offense on a driving record.

Pros and Cons of Mercury Insurance

Mercury General Corporation will not be the right choice for every driver, but there are some great pros for those who do pick Mercury as their insurance company.

  • Comprehensive Add-On Options: The types of car insurance Mercury Insurance offers include extras like mechanical breakdown insurance to its customers.
  • Financial Stability: An A A.M. Best rating ensures that Mercury Insurance can capably handle financial issues.
  • Good Driver Discount: Customers can save as much as 20% on their policy if they qualify for Mercury’s good driver discount.

Mercury is a good choice for those looking for a company that has less common coverage like breakdown coverage. However, some negatives to be aware of are:

  • Higher Premiums: Mercury is one of the more expensive companies when we compare rates to its competitors.
  • Limited Availability: Mercury Insurance is only available in 11 states (Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia).

Cost-wise, Mercury Insurance is a bit pricier than other companies and may not be available to purchase in your state.

Worst Insurance Co.

This company does not pay claims. Worst insurance company ever! Horrible customer service and claims department is a joke. I do not even understand how they are allowed to operate in the USA. I made a claim and they dismissed it before even seeing the details of the accident. Dismissing claims and not paying claims is Mercury's protocol. Paying them premiums is a waste of money because they automatically dismiss most claims and do not pay. ...

Great customer service.

Mercury has great customer service and comparable rates. They handled my claim quickly and didn't raise my rates for a small accident. Their service was quicker than expected and the representatives are all friendly and courteous. The website and app are very useful and easy to use. I highly recommend them.

No Problems so Far.

I haven't had any good or bad experiences with them as I have not had to file any claims. So far their prices have been pretty comparable or a little cheaper than other companies.

Good service but high price

This is a good company that process claims without any issue. However, they increase my insurance every year and I find much cheaper insurances from other company.
