Insurance Question from La Tuna Canyon, CA

Asked on 06/23/2014

I’ve been scammed… Someone sold me a policy that never existed and I was left with the cost of the repairs…. what now? Back in 2012 I got a quote from an ex buddy of mine that works as an insurance broker. As a young adult my rates were very high so if a friend can help me save money, why not. I took his advice, he sent me the quote and assured me that in 24 hours my Quote # would become my policy number. I was happy. I was in an accident a few days later which caused $6000 in damages to my car. I went to an auto body shop and they cant find my policy. Turns out I was sold a quote and the broker pocketed my money. I was uninsured and left responsible with the bill. What should I do next?
