Insurance Question from Barrigada, GU

Asked on 11/15/2012

Is there a way an insurance company could assist with a vehicle that was stolen while parked in company grounds. NULL

Answer given on November 29, 2012

If your car was stolen from any property, and you have comprehensive coverage on the car, the insurance compamy will work with you to settle the claim on your car. The insurance company really can’t assist with finding the car. That would be up to the police. Presumably you have reported this to the police, as the insurance company will want you to do so. The comprehensive coverage does have a deductible, but any value to the car over that will be a part of the settlement with the insurance company. They will also help you with a rental car while settling the claim. However, the insurance company will not settle the claim until the car is gone for a minimum of 30 days, or is recovered by the police. the value of the car will be settled based on the actual cash value of the car at the time of a loss. If you had updated items on the car, you need to show proof of this to get the value of the add-ons.
